Airlie Ranch Renovation - Wilmington, North Carolina

Inspired by the client's time spent in NSW and their love for Bondi Beach, this home brings Australian minimalism to the North Carolina coast. This gut renovation of a ranch home in the coastal area of Wilmington has a clean, modern feel yet a warm indoor-outdoor laid back vibe. We used similar materiality in alternative forms throughout this home to give a sense of cohesion without things feeling too monotonous. Concrete acts as the familiar thread between the kitchen’s countertops, powder’s sink basin, bathroom’s flooring, and deck’s furniture - all cement in different applications. We also used linear repetition in many ways throughout: tongue and groove detailing, fluted planters, details in furnishings, vertically stacked tile, a minimal fence, and even several art selections. It’s this repetition that truly make a home feel intentionally designed and flow effortlessly from space to space.
